Please review the following guidelines before submitting your article.
1. Purpose of Publication
Our platform is dedicated to:
- Highlighting personal experiences, stories, and success journeys of people with disabilities.
- Sharing practical knowledge and insights about assistive technology and inclusive digital practices.
- Encouraging innovation, awareness, and conversation around accessibility, disability rights, and inclusive education.
Whether you’re a student, instructor, technologist, advocate, or ally—your voice matters.
2. Who Can Contribute?
We invite contributions from:
- IAT learners, alumni, and instructors
- Assistive Technology Specialists and Accessibility Testers
- Disability advocates, educators, and researchers
- Developers and designers working on accessible solutions
- Partners, collaborators, and inclusion-focused organizations
- Anyone with experience or passion in disability inclusion, accessibility, advocacy or technology
3. Content Types We Accept
You may submit articles focusing on any of the following subjects:
- Personal stories: Learning journeys, overcoming barriers, or career achievements.
- Opinion pieces: Reflections on trends, policies, or challenges in accessibility.
- Tutorials/How-tos: Practical guides on using accessible tools, apps, or platforms.
- Case studies or project features: Describing accessible innovations or education models.
- Interviews or profiles: Featuring inspiring individuals in the accessibility field.
- Research summaries: Condensed versions of research with real-world impact.
4. Article Format Guidelines
- Length: 500 to 1000 words
- Title: Clear, concise, and relevant to your article’s content
- Tone: Positive, respectful, empowering, and inclusive
- Language: English (plain language preferred; define technical terms if used)
- Images: Optional. If included, provide alternative text descriptions (alt text)
- Accessibility: Use short paragraphs for better readability
Note: All content is reviewed for accessibility, clarity, and appropriateness.
5. Submission Requirements
Please include the following with your article:
- A short author biography (3 to 5 sentences)
- A profile photo (optional, with description for accessibility)
- Any relevant links (portfolio, website, or social media)
- Your written article in a plain text
6. Review and Approval
All submissions are reviewed by the IAT Editorial Team. We check for:
- Alignment with IAT’s mission and values
- Accuracy and originality
- Accessibility and clarity of language
- Positive representation of people with disabilities
Approved articles will be published on the IAT Publish an Article page.
Authors will be notified upon publication.
7. Rights and Permissions
- By submitting, you agree to give IAT permission to publish and share your article across our digital platforms.
- Authors retain full credit and ownership of their content.
- If your content was published elsewhere, ensure you have the rights to republish and clearly state any prior appearances.
8. Code of Conduct
IAT is committed to creating a safe, inclusive space for all contributors and readers. Submissions must be:
- Respectful of all identities and lived experiences
- Free from hate speech, discrimination, misinformation or disinformation
- Aligned with our values of dignity, equity, and empowerment
Articles violating any of these principles will not be published.
