Institute of Accessible Technology (IAT): Fostering Disability-Inclusive Societies for Social Progress
International Day of Persons with Disabilities — 3 December 2025
As the world observes the 2025 International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the Institute of Accessible Technology (IAT) joins the global community in embracing this year’s theme: “Fostering disability‑inclusive societies for advancing social progress.”
This theme aligns closely with IAT’s conviction that true social progress requires the full and equitable inclusion of persons with disabilities. In an era where technology shapes opportunity and access, it is imperative that digital systems, platforms, and learning spaces are designed to include everyone.
IAT’s Mission and Vision
At IAT, our mission is to provide high-quality, accessible technology education, training, and support that empower individuals with disabilities to realize their potential in the digital economy. Guided by our vision of a world in which technology is accessible to all, we work to remove barriers to participation and ensure that digital environments enable independence, dignity, and opportunity.
Our Commitments
In support of this mission, we reaffirm our commitment to:
- Advance accessible and assistive technologies that enhance independence and productivity for persons with disabilities;
- Deliver inclusive digital skills training that opens pathways to education, employment, and innovation;
- Champion accessible design practices across digital platforms, learning environments, and products;
- Collaborate with partners, policymakers, and communities to promote disability-inclusive digital transformation.
Call to Action
Inclusion is not charity — it is a matter of justice, equity, and sound public policy. When societies commit to accessibility as a standard, they unlock the talents and contributions of millions of people, strengthening communities, markets, and economies.
On this International Day, IAT reiterates its unwavering dedication to empowering persons with disabilities through technology, advocacy, and education. We invite governments, institutions, civil society, and the private sector to join us in building digital futures that are inclusive by design and accessible by default.
Together, we can ensure disability inclusion is not merely aspirational but a realized standard — advancing social progress and leaving no one behind.
